Whiting has been designing cranes for nuclear facilities for over four decades, pioneering the polar crane and single failure proof crane concepts. Our experience plays a key role in the design of overhead cranes for the nuclear power industry. Three out of every four nuclear power plants in the United States use at least one Whiting crane in their facilities - a testament to our knowledge and capabilities within the nuclear power industry.
In addition to actively participating in several overhead crane industry committees, Whiting is also a member of the Nuclear Industry Assessment Committee (NIAC), as well as the Nuclear Overhead and Gantry Crane Sub-Committee of ASME (NOG) and is audited by the Nuclear Procurement Issues Committee (NUPIC).
Whiting is also certified ISO 9001:2008, 10 CFR Appendix B and ASME NQA-1.
Our current design utilizes the best elements of our original designs, while using modern materials and processes - making them lighter and easier to use.
