Our extensive experience plays a key role in the design of overhead cranes for the nuclear power industry. Three out of every four nuclear power plants in the United States use at least one large Whiting crane in their facilities – a testament to our knowledge and capabilities within the nuclear power industry.
With a fully-integrated Nuclear Services team, Whiting stands ready to rebuild, modernize, and service your crane. Our expert service technicians will get your polar cranes running quickly during refueling outages, and standby ready to make sure the cranes are running at peak efficiency.
In addition to actively participating in several overhead crane industry committees, Whiting engineers have participated since the inception of the ASME Cranes for Nuclear Facilities Committee. This committee publishes both the ASME NOG-1 and NUM-1 standards.
Whiting maintains a 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and ASME NQA-1 quality program complete with Part 21 reporting commitments. Our quality program has been audited numerous times by NUPIC and found acceptable. Projects with do not require the rigor of nuclear quality control can be completed via our ISO 9001:2015 program.
Our current design utilizes the best elements of our original designs, while using modern materials and processes – making them lighter and easier to maintain and use.
