Turbine Room Overhead Cranes
Typically the main overhead crane in Fossil Fuel Plants, it has a relatively high load rating (usually 100 to 500 tons), long span (over 100ft.) and high lift (over 80 ft.). Speeds are generally slow for accurate positioning and economical original cost.
The Turbine area may be served by a single crane rated for the maximum load to be handled or it may be served by two cranes which together handle the maximum load by means of a lifting beam. There are many features peculiar to Turbine Room cranes that are not required by CMAA, OSHA or ANSI standards.
Reliability is of extreme importance, especially the ability to be placed into service promptly after an extended stand-by period.
