Whiting Corporation Facilities
Whiting Corporation, a major manufacturer of overhead cranes, foundry equipment and rail transportation maintenance equipment is now located in Monee, Illinois.
Whiting's new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility was built in 2000 and covers 197,000 square feet. Of this total, 169,000 sq. ft. is devoted to manufacturing; 28,000 sq ft. is comprised of corporate office area. Layout of the facility allows for future expansion. It is located on a 23-acre site just off Interstate 57.
The building in Monee also houses the headquarters and a regional office for Whiting Services, Inc., which specializes in the maintenance and inspection of overhead traveling cranes of all manufacturers and of other Whiting equipment.
For all the products Whiting manufactures, and for other brands of similar equipment, Whiting and Whiting Services provide replacement parts and services, including on-site repairs, installations, inspections, training and modernizations.
Until the new facility began operation in 2000, Whiting Corporation was located in Harvey Illinois, about 16 miles from its current location in Monee, Illinois. The original Whiting Corporation was founded in 1884 by Mr. John Hill Whiting as the Detroit Foundry Equipment Company in Detroit, Michigan. In 1893, Whiting moved to Harvey, Illinois, and changed its name to Whiting Foundry Equipment company. In 1920, the name became Whiting Corporation.

ISO and Nuclear Certifications
Whiting and Whiting Services are certified to ISO 9001:2000. The most recent audit was completed on October 17, 2007.
Whiting and Whiting Services were initially certified to QS9000 TE Supplement and ISO9001: 1994 on September 5, 2000. Whiting was the only top-running crane manufacturer in the world to have attained certification to QS-9000 TE Supplement. This combination of standards was considerably more restrictive than any other ISO standard.
Whiting also maintains a Nuclear Quality program in compliance with 10 CFR 50 appendix B, NQA-1, 10 CFR 21 and NOG-1. On January 26, 2006 Whiting successfully completed a 5 day audit by a 5 man team of NUPIC Member Companies (Nuclear Procurement Issues Committee) conducted to satisfy an official NUPIC Audit with no audit findings. This audit included representation from 3 different Nuclear Utilities and was composed of qualified auditors and technical experts from these Utilities. During the audit and exit meeting Whiting was complimented numerous times for having arranged and coordinated the “most organized audit”, the members had ever reviewed. This allowed the audit team to complete the audit a day early.
